B is for Begin Again

Begin Again: make a fresh start, wipe the slate clean, back to square one.
[According to Dictionary.com Thesaurus]

Well it's officially 2013. Another year over and a new one just begun. (yes, from the song "Happy Christmas" I love Christmas music!) I've undergone a whole lot of change in the past twelve months and it's been a hell of year. Living up my senior year of college with my amazing roommates and friends, graduating college, landing my first full-time job, moving away from home, supporting and living by myself and making my way through the real world and a corporate company.

One thing that I have learned about myself over the year is that I thrive on a routine. Now don't get me wrong, I don't need to have every hour of every day planned out and believe me, I love breaks and change like every one. It's just that I've found that I am my best self when I have a set structure to follow. I think this is probably true for most of society though.

It's been really interesting since the last two months have been full of holidays and vacation time. It was wonderful being able to spend that time back at home with family. While I was home though, it was so easy to skip working out and to slack on eating healthy meals. I'm not upset about it though because I know coming back now means back to routine and back to regular workouts and meals. The break was completely worth it.

I actually can't explain how excited I am to get back to work (weird, I know) and to workouts again. This month is going to have a lot going on - a volleyball league, euchre league and department-wide fitness team challenge - are all starting up. I've been doing so well (before the holidays) with my routine since I moved down here, and I'm ready to continue it for 2013. I'm looking forward to all the adventures that 2013 will bring and I suppose if I have any kind of resolution to work on it's to be open to taking advantage to even more adventures and doing new things.

Another thing I will be working on is this - keeping up The B List. I can't promise it's regularity but as I find time and inspiration, I'll keep you updated.

Until next time

B is for Bereft

Bereft: lacking something needed, wanted, or expected.
[According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary]

Sometimes I think my life is kind of sad and lonely - I mean I live by myself, which I absolutely love 98% of the time. Sometimes though, after being cooped up for a while, being alone is just too much. Especially when the weather is sucky and it gets dark so early. Yep. I'm definitely over winter right now .. I'm ready for the sun and the warm weather and being able to go outside and DO THINGS!

Anyways back to my awesome life - sometimes when I hear the person that lives below me, I feel sort of comforted from being a little lonely - which I also think is super weird/creepy sometimes. But when I'm up at night and I can hear his tv on and he laughs or is talking, it just kind of reminds me that there are actually other people around in this world.

Usually the guy who lives below (who I've never met, mind you) is quiet and I only hear him every so often. Whenever I can hear his tv on though, mostly it kind of reminds me of being at home because when I was younger, my dad would sit downstairs at night after we were all in bed and watch tv and I could hear it from upstairs.

Yep that sounds just as strange when I type it out as when I thought about it. haha. I'm just wondering if any of you ever get that feeling too...

Until next time

B is for Bicycle

Bicycle: a vehicle with two wheels tandem, a handlebar for steering,
a saddle seat and pedals by which it is propelled.
[According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary]

Wow. It's been a while since my last post. That makes me sad. I hate getting so caught up in everything that I neglect my blog. =(
Anyways. Being on Christmas break and back home for 3 weeks, I've been pretty pent up in my house in the little town of SM. It's too cold to go run outside - I hate when my throat gets all cold and it's hard to breathe. And, since there isn't even any snow to play in outside, I'm forced to become creative inside.
Now, it's not that I work out on a daily basis, by any means, but when I get pent up like this, I  have all of this energy that I NEED to use. So yesterday, I booted up the ole Wii and popped in Just Dance. I like the game. I like its variety and the fact that I get to dance around in my skivvies alone in the house like a fool. However, I dislike the fact that I have to hold the wii-mote in my right hand and it only adds to my score when the sensor hits perfectly! =( I know for a fact that I'm doing those moves just like that animated person on the screen! Also, I find it utterly impossible that I can dance to 20 songs - my considered workout - and be sore the next day! Seriously? What's even better though, is that only my right bicep is sore. Haha. If I keep Wii dancing, I'm going to end up with one super buff arm and one lil weakling arm. Cute! But I suppose that's the price I pay since I would much rather Wii dance than do boring pushups and whatnot.
Other things I like to do as my physical activity / workout include Zumba, dancing, cheering (and I mean flying and occasionally basing), swimming (though I've not yet been able to fit that into my schedule this year). When it's warm out, I'm pretty partial to rollerblading, running outside, tumbling in the grass, waterskiing, taking walks, walking/running with dogs or really any kind of outdoor activity. I just really enjoy being active in general. Helps to clear my head, de-stress and  I also love my bike, which saved my life the past two years by getting me to some of my classes on time. Oops. I've had my bike forever, though. I mean this thing was my first real big-kid two-wheeler! I would ride that bike everywhere if I could. In the summers I would ride it to Grand Lake SM or drive there and rollerblade the path up and down a few times. So pretty!
And now I'm missing Summertime ...
Well. That's about it. I'm using some of that hyped up energy to write this blog instead of being able to do anything that I listed up there.  Short and sweet and hopefully more to come soon!
